FILM SCORES

Many collaborations have taken place on this musical path, such as the collaboration with director Mladen Kovačević on the documentaries “Unplugged” (2013) and “The Wall of Death, and All That” (2016), which the Czech Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) and DAFilms included in their list of 10 best European documentaries in 2016. Nemanja also collaborated with director Mila Turajlić on the film “Cinema Komunisto”, which had its world premiere at the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA) in 2011, and its American premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

Nemanja started collaborating with director Jovan Todorović back on student films at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in 2001. For Todorović’s film “The Belgrade Phantom” (2009), Nemanja received the best film score award from the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI), while the two authors produced a particularly interesting collaboration in the short film “You’re Dead, America” (2018), made as part of the MOVING POEMS concept which brought together American poets and directors on the NOWNESS platform.

Collaboration with visual artist and director Lazar Bodroža led to Nemanja composing music for his film “A.I. Rising” (2018), which was backed by Lionsgate and whose soundtrack was released by Universal Music. The music in “A.I. Rising” was noticed by the piano duo LP Duo, with whom Nemanja then worked on their own interpretation of the film score, which was also released by Universal.

Collaboration on the short film “Another Country” (2022), was initiated by the American director Sherif Alabede due to a pure aesthetic recognition between the two authors who, while geographically distant, are close in their authorial approach.

About & CV

NEMANJA MOSUROVIĆ
is a composer and music producer from Belgrade.

He belongs to the generation that could feel the echo of punk but also experience electronic music’s great momentum. In his early youth, he was fascinated by the Beatles while digging through his parents' record collection. As a teenager, he spent a lot of time at orchestra and choir recording sessions, especially in Radio Belgrade’s Studio 10 where radio dramas were recorded and where Nemanja's fascination with sound and sound effects began. He studied sound recording and design among the first generations of students at this newly established department of the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade.

Nemanja’s continuous engagement with music, his grasp of sound dramaturgy and fascination with samplers and synthesizers have all fused in his understanding of film music. As a student, he composed scores for numerous student films and theater plays. This is when he started receiving his first awards and recognition and, above all, this is when he intensified his cooperation with a whole generation of young authors who brought a new aesthetic into play. This cooperation led to an association with colleagues from the Academy of Music and the Faculty of Dramatic Arts, which resulted in the creation of a music production and sound design studio. The creative environment created in the studio and its openness to people talented in various aspects of music and sound sparked the interest of numerous authors from the worlds of film, theater and art, as well as advertising. Nemanja became aware of the potential of intertwining the sincere and authentic energy of independent authors with the precisely formulated demands of the creative industry. It is precisely in the connection of the industry and independent authors that a specific musical aesthetic is created, one which respects sincere authorial expression but also considers today’s expectations from applied music.
